Will Sony ever let us Download PSP Movie Files onto UMD Disks?

Memory Sticks are great. They allow us to download PSP movie files, music videos and save our game progress. They can get pretty expensive though. The 4GB Memory Stick set to be released in July 2006 will reportedly retail for 250.00. If you are planning to use your PSP to watch very many movies, it's going to cost you.
Why on earth didn't Sony market a rewriteable UMD disk for us to download movies onto? The only way we can buy them is on Sony's proprietary UMD disk as it is. Due to the high prices and low sales, some of the movie studios have stopped releasing movies in this format.
Make Sure Your PSP Upgrade Constantly
One of the best things about the PSP is the upgrades we get for free on their website. That leads me to believe these little consoles might not be obsolete as fast as gadgets usually become obsolete. While the PSP is a play games station first, the fact that we can watch movies on it makes us want to. However, if it becomes too expensive to download PSP movie files or to buy the pre-recorded UMD disks, then we'll look elsewhere for our portable movie enjoyment.
Everybody could still make their residual income off of the PSP this way. Sony could market a reasonably priced blank UMD disk and offer the upgrade through the website. Then whoever owns the movie rights could charge us so much to download PSP movie files onto our blank UMD disks. Let us make a DVD of the movie at the same time.
This digital rights management (DRM) thing has just gotten out of hand. Right now, as it stands, we would have to buy the DVD, split atoms to upload and convert it to the PSP acceptable format, then download it onto a memory stick. Now, if we're going to do that very much, we might just as well buy the UMD and the DVD at the same time. That is, if that particular movie or video has been released on UMD.
If "they" would just let us pay for what we want in the first place, they wouldn't have to worry about near as much theft. If we are going to enjoy these portable gadgets, let us have our fun. We shouldn't have to pay $30 for one movie 2 times. If you sell us a PSP that will let us view a movie, then let us purchase and download PSP movie files and be able to store them for a nominal fee.
