Why You Need a PSP Memory Stick

Sony will soon release the latest PSP Memory Stick Pro Duo, a 4 GB storage card that costs a whopping $250. Since Sony recently dropped the price of the PSP from $250 to $199, the storage unit will cost more than the console. To date, the latest Memory Stick for the PSP has 2 GB in storage capacity. It goes down from there to 1GB, 512MB, 256, MB, 128MB, 64MB and 32MB. When the PSP first debuted, it came with a 32MB Memory Stick.

What's It Used For?

The PSP Memory Stick Duo is used to store your game progress, music, video content and photos. Since a full-size movie uses up about 256MB, it can get pretty expensive if you plan to download very many movies. Then you still have your music and your game progress to think of and we haven't even touched the photos yet.

Here is where you will have to experiment and decide what is important to you to keep handy. If you're much of a gamer, you'll want to keep your game progress handy so if that is your priority, everything else might have to take a backseat. Of course, if money is no option, by all means, buy all the PSP Memory Stick Duos you can afford. If however, you have to be selective, here are some options:

Keep Your Memory Stick Sorted!

Treat it like your dresser drawer and closet space. By this I mean, anything that you know you want to keep but you don't need handy, save your PSP Memory Stick room and keep these things on your PC. You can always retrieve it when you want to show Aunt Matilda your vacation slides in the backseat of the car. Your very favorite songs in the whole world should have their place on the Memory Stick.

If you're going to be flying, customize your content for that particular trip. If you have finished showing Aunt Matilda your vacation pictures put them back on your PC. Save the room on the PSP Memory Stick for what you will need for your trip: your favorite songs, a movie for the flight, pictures of your loved ones, whatever you would put in your top dresser drawer goes with you. If it's a closet item, it goes back in the PC.

Once you prioritize your needs, you'll have fun deciding how much storage space to invest in and what is important enough to keep close to the PSP.
